      The Short Summary:
      Rewind Yarn respects your privacy. Your project data and yarn stash stay on your phone in a local SQLite database. We do not sell your personal data, we do not show advertisements, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Photos you snap are sent to an AI recognition service only with your explicit opt-in consent, and they are never used to train AI models.

2. Information We Collect and Process

A. Photos and Camera Usage (With Permission)

The app requests access to your device camera (and optionally your photo library) to provide its core features:

Sweater & Care Label Scanning: Snapping photos of a thrifted sweater, its garment care label, and its interior seam construction.
Project Documentation: Optionally attaching progress photos to your active crochet projects.

B. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Recognition

To extract fibre percentages, yarn weight classification, and seam unravelling suitability from your photos, the app offers an automated recognition feature.

Explicit Opt-in Consent: Photos leave your device only after you tap “Yes, read my photos”. If you decline, you can still enter all label details manually without any photo transmission.
Ephemeral Processing: Photos sent for AI analysis are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS to our European backend (Supabase EU) and processed by enterprise AI endpoints (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or Google Cloud Vertex AI).
No Model Training: Under our enterprise agreements, your photos are processed ephemerally and are strictly never used to train or improve public AI models.
Human Confirmation: Every AI-suggested field must be reviewed and confirmed by you before it is saved into your stash.

C. Anonymous Identifiers

When you first launch the app, an anonymous installation ID is assigned through Supabase Auth. We do not require your name, email, phone number, or social media logins. This anonymous ID is used solely to manage daily scan quotas and prevent automated abuse.

D. Local Device Storage

Your stash inventory, yarn measurements, saved crochet patterns, and row/stitch counter progress are stored locally on your device in a private SQLite database.

3. Third-Party Services & Subprocessors

We work with reputable, GDPR-compliant infrastructure providers to deliver the app's online features:

Supabase (EU Region): Cloud hosting, Edge Functions, quota tracking, and secure temporary photo processing.
Enterprise AI APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Cloud): Secure optical and textual interpretation of sweater care labels.
Apple App Store & Google Play: Distribution, app updates, and platform telemetry as governed by their respective privacy policies.

4. App Store & Google Play Privacy Declarations

Data Used to Track You: None. Rewind Yarn does not engage in cross-app tracking.
Data Linked to You: None. No account registration or personally identifiable information (PII) is linked to your identity.
Data Not Linked to You: Photos (optional, user-initiated for scan recognition), diagnostics/usage metrics (for quota verification).

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You remain in full control of your data:

Local Data: You can delete any scan, stash item, or crochet project at any time within the app. Uninstalling the app permanently erases the local SQLite database.
Remote Deletion: Any temporary scan photo uploaded for recognition is deleted according to our automated lifecycle policies. To request immediate manual purging of any associated anonymous logs, contact us at support@rewindyarn.com.

6. Children's Privacy

Rewind Yarn does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If you believe a child has provided data to us, please reach out so we can promptly delete it.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new app features or regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
